11th April 2016

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to school after the Easter holidays. We are looking forward to some lovely spring weather so we can work and play outside this term!

A special welcome to all the new children starting Nursery for the first time.

This term we will be working separately for some of the time and dividing the Nursery into Nursery 1 and Nursery 2. This will give the younger children the chance to work as a smaller group and the older children an opportunity to get ready for Reception.

Nursery1 children (born after 1.9.12.) will have another year in Nursery.

Nursery 2 children (born before 1.9.12.) will be starting Reception in September.

Please see timetable as activity days for your child may have changed. Our Nursery 2 topics will continue to use the ‘Ben and Betty’ phonic immersion scheme as a focus so please continue to look for items at home beginning with the letter to send into school. Nursery 1 will be using a range of story books as a starting point for their work. All children will be able to choose from many enhanced activities each day as well as their favourite toys and games!

Hall times will be used for a range of physical activities including gym, dance, parachute games and ‘Write Dance’ patterns. Comfortable clothes will be necessary as the children will only be taking off their shoes and socks.

On library day the children will have the opportunity to talk about the books they have taken home and change their library books. It is important that your child has a book bag (not a rucksack) and brings it to school on their library day.

As the weather improves we will hopefully be able to play and work outside for longer.  There will be a choice of outdoor activities daily so please remember to send your child to school with a coat. Please ensure that your child comes to school dressed in warm, waterproof clothing as we always go out!

Every session we stop mid morning for fruit and milk. Please send in two pieces of fruit on a Monday for all the children to share. We will also have a weekly cooking session and would appreciate a £5 contribution towards the cost of ingredients this term.

Finally if you have any concerns or you would like to know more about the activities, please do not hesitate to come and speak to us at any time.

Many thanks,

Mrs Goodby (Class Teacher) Mrs. Quin, Mrs. Coles, Mrs. Davies, Mrs. Porter, Mrs. Nemeth
