Keeping You Involved
Ultimately parents know what’s best for their children, in order for us to ensure that we are providing your child with the best possible care, a good relationship with you is most important to achieve this.
All of our policies and procedures are always available if you would like to see them. We will ask parents to complete consent forms at the initial home visit, the consent forms cover emergency medical procedures, everyday tasks and permission to take and use photographs.
We like to keep parents involved on their child’s progress and will invite you in for an informal chat to discuss how your child is settling in. We also run sessions where you can get involved in your child’s learning and organise a variety of trips.
Learning and Development
At Craigfelen Caterpillars Flying Start we will provide appropriate areas for a range of your child’s needs. Examples of these areas are:
- Food preparation / dining area
- Quiet area
- Large play areas
- Outdoor areas
We provide a varied curriculum which incorporates a range of stimulating creative and educational activities and play experiences. This curriculum aims to give children new and exciting experiences that nurture their development. We follow a structured routine each day and offer individual activities, free play and focussed activities to build skills and development, outdoor play and large group activities.
As a nursery we are dedicated to providing children with a happy, safe, secure and stimulating environment where they will be cared for by qualified, experienced and dedicated staff.
All staff are trained to NVQ Level 3 and are also trained in First Aid, food hygiene, child protection, health and safety as well as many other on-going courses. All staff hold a current DBS and we work on a ration of one adult to 4 children in line with CSSIW regulations.
Each child that attends Flying Start will be allocated a named key worker. The key workers responsibility include record keeping, one to one support if necessary, observing and planning for children’s skills, interests and abilities.
